It never occurred to me that we should be teaching typing skills to elementary school students. It seems so absurd to me now. Considering the fact that students have and use computers practically every day, it makes sense to teach them how to type! I think my confusion, is due to the fact that I didn't see a computer in my elementary school until I was in the 5th grade, and I didn't learn to type until the 10th grade. Teaching students how to type at a very early age should greatly affect their writing in a positive way.
ReplyDeleteI also never thought of this as a device or program that should be used for our students! It never occurred to me as something that stood out as an important skill in my school! I do remember having a typing class in high school, but considering how fast paced and technology driven our world is today, I am surprised my students are using a program like this is elementary grades! I think this is so important in teaching a real world skill!
